National LSC Approval for College Exemption from LLSC Check (Residential Pilot Only)
Colleges taking part in the Residential Pilot Scheme and who can demonstrate that their provision of a particular course is unique may apply for exemption from the Local Learning and Skills Council check required in Section H of the application form.
Colleges must seek agreement from their own Local Learning and Skills Council (LLSC) that the particular course is unique to their college. This agreement must be either in writing, or by e mail. Following approval from their LLSC, Colleges need to prepare a business case and send it to the LSC National Office. This case should set out in full:
- The title of the course including level;
- Full details the course content; and
- The reason for requesting exemption.
The case should be presented to the National LSC on headed-notepaper and signed by the College Principal. Included with the letter should be a copy of the agreement received from the Local Learning and Skills Council.
The business case should be sent to:
Beverley Gash,
Learner Support Directorate,
Learning and Skills Council,
N8,
Moorfoot,
Sheffield
S1 4PQ
Colleges MUST receive a written reply confirming the National LSC approval. Colleges should note this on any future monitoring information by advising the date of the approved exemption and a contact name for reference.
