Residential Support Scheme
The Residential Support Scheme (RSS)
The Residential Support Scheme provides financial support with accommodation costs for learners (aged 16 and over) who need to live away from home to study because their course is not available locally. It covers LSC-funded courses of at least 15 hours attendance per week and 10 weeks duration and most learners applying to the Scheme will be about to study their first full Level 2 or 3. The scheme is administered centrally by a Helpline, Assessment and Payment Body.
50 specialist colleges (mainly agriculture, horticulture, art and design) do not participate in the RSS, instead they receive residential bursary funding and operate their own schemes. Learners should contact these colleges direct for details of the support available with the costs of term-time accommodation. Click here for details of the 50 Residential Bursary Colleges.
